TE 846 Accommodating Differences in Literacy Learners-Summer 2010

In TE 846 we learned examined meeting the needs of varous learners within literacy. We each worked with on a case study with a struggling create a plan and activities to help that student move forward in his or her literacy skills. We also how as educators we could diversify our teaching practices to meet the needs of more students.

TE 848 Methods of Writing Instruction-Summer 2010

In TE 848 we examined different writing styles and meeting the needs of diverse learners within those writing styles. Many assignments required us to do writing samples of our own and examine our own writing practices. We reviewed different forms of writing and looked at how the using the different stages (pre-write, drafting, editing, publishing) of writing can improve writing practices.

We began by looking at infants their attachments to parents/caregivers and progressed through the developmental stages thru the teenage years. While looking at the different stages of development we examine how a child's development impacted his or her education.

In TE 836 we examined different awards given to children's literature. For each award we reviewed award winners and critcally examined why they were worthy of that award. We also discussed how these awards impact how authors and illustrators create books for children and the impact the awards have on classroom instruction.
